Restoring of a 14th Century Submerged Shiva Temple, Wageshwar, Pawna Lake.

Located discreetly in the submerged depths of Pawna Lake, between the trinity of Tungi , Lohgarh and Tikona Fort. This 14th century temple magically reappears from the murky water on the onset of summers lasting till May when the dam discharges water from the lake.

When we found the temple, the stone blocks from the temple were scattered all across the undulating landscape.owing to the periodic yearly cycle of filling and emptying of the lake.

We at Malik Architecture, took upon ourselves to employ skilled stone masons from Rajasthan to put back together the 3D jigsaw puzzle of scattered stone blocks by systematically naming each block and carefully rebuilding it piece by piece using photogrammetry and 3D modelling softwares.

The process of restoration took around four months.Ever since, even after the constant cyclic process of water filling and receding, the temple has withstood the test of time.
The entire process of rebuilding and restoration was intricate, sensitive yet non-invasive which turned out as true to the craft and respected the legacy of this Ancient Temple.
