Luxury is being authentic both in terms of material and workmanship, and in providing the user a tactile and sensual experience with the historical context of the fort, without aping the old. Thus creating a dialogue between the old and the new.
Established by Maharaja Amar Singh, the fort was a royal residence in the Khatoli region in Rajasthan. The area around the fort is a relatively undiscovered area with many tourist attractions of wildlife reserves and ancient temples within a 100 km radius of the fort.
The imposing entrance Pol with its staff quarters and guard-house, the residential haveli with its private temples and the stables, form the core of the fort. The ancient family temple with its tall, ornate shikharas, located outside, completes the fort complex sitting on the very edge of the Parvati river, enjoying its magnificent views.
The proposed development of the property will be a two fold programme- the sensitive, articulate restoration of the existing fort into a boutique hotel, and the establishment of a new, luxury hotel directly across the river, both having 100 rooms each. The river connecting both the hotel properties provide for mesmerising views from almost all parts.
The interventions and the new buildings will be modern and contemporary in the use of space, light and context; and yet grounded in tradition. Stone jaalis unite the new with the old, even as modern designs and patterns in the dressing and carving add an exciting and fresh dimension to the new blocks.
